City Subconscious

- Aananda Antahleen

Aananda Antahleen

Aananda Antahleen (born 1997), is a photographer from Dhaka, Bangladesh. His work is constructed through visual narratives of light and color combined with a perspective of conceptual documentation; with a slight hint of magic realism. His interests range from street photography, portraiture, to documentary.

Cities are what we make them to be. With our desires and emotions we build our cities. No matter how it turns out to be, every city is a reflection of our utmost impulses. The streets we walk, the spaces we occupy; every time our senses reach out and construct the very structures that consume us.  The city becomes a wilderness. A wilderness of people’s dreams, their desires. Lights towering above, crawling below; hint both the subconscious and psychedelic. A jumble of broken walls, broken roads, or just broken senses. And the city of Dhaka might appear to be just that. And yet still, in the midst of the pile of bricks, metal, and concrete, the city breathes. Here, the fascination lies beneath the perceptible.

The city of troubled emotions.

Turmoiled and confused.

City subconscious.
