Ghartera is an emerging art space. We collaborate with groups of artists in an effort to create resistance through art-making and provide alternatives to the established, mainstream narratives and ideas.

Ghartera, the Bangla word is translated into and interpreted as “stubbornness” and/or opinionated rebellion.

How does Ghartera gather funds?

Ghartera is currently self-funded by the collaborating artists. We also receive a small amount of financial support via crowd funding.

We oppose any type of corporate funding because of the underlying business agenda that comes with it. We also want to break out of the hassle of censorship and prohibition that comes with big galleries and art spaces.

To give art its original voice we desperately need the help of our communities. We need you to come together and help us organize our projects without the help of corporate funding. Any amount of financial support is greatly appreciated.

Ghartera, in its exhibitions and other events constantly seeks help from people who are not necessarily from an art background. Multi-disciplinary people are welcome to collaborate by helping us with their specific knowledge and skills which would assist us throughout the entire process.

Shows and events that Ghartera organize, need people who can help with several aspects of the events like organizing, PR, finance, documentation, marketing and research.
